Sapim and Globis

Since nearly 100 years, SAPIM, located in Wilrijk (Belgium), has been a manufacturer of bicycle spokes and nipples. In the meantime, it has become the reference in its specific domain. SAPIM currently has business units in America, Asia, Hungary and The Netherlands, through its subsidiary, Ryde International (bicycle rims). The customers of SAPIM are mainly other manufacturers and resellers.

Until recently, the ERP software that was used at and by SAPIM was based on old technology. Maintenance and expandability required a lot of work-hours and were expensive. Registration of the production and production planning did not occur smoothly, which was not beneficial for the expansion plans of SAPIM.

Sapim got to know Globis at a Globis event that was featuring on ‘Cost-price calculation and production registration’. SAPIM was impressed by the solution, and soon a demo scenario was set up and created by Globis.

Before carrying out the migration, SAPIM and Globis jointly thought through and adapted several of the processes. For that purpose, a number of sessions were set up together with Globis, and by way of continuous and new insights, a totally new environment was created.

In addition to the migration to a new technology provided by Globis, SAPIM now has an application at its disposal that provides the opportunity to adapt processes more rapidly for QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) – i.e. reduce run times and reduce the extent of the stocks.
